Katy Tur
Katherine Bear
Tur was born on October 26, 1983. She is an American journalist writer, author,
and broadcast journalist, who works as a NBC News correspondent. Tur anchors
MSNBC Reports. Since 2021, she has hosted Katy Tur Reports. The show airs every
day from 2:00-3:00 PM ET on MSNBC. She also reports for NBC's news platforms
Early Today, Today and MSNBC Nightly News. Tur is the daughter of journalists
Zoey Tur and Marika Gerrard. She graduated from Brentwood School (2001) and at the
University of California, Santa Barbara (2005) with a Bachelor of Arts in
philosophy. She is Jewish. Tur was a reporter for KTLA. HD News/Cablevision.
News 12 Brooklyn. WPIX-TV. Fox 5 New York. Later on, Tur worked as a storm
chaser for The Weather Channel on the VORTEX2 team for the network. Tur began
her career at the NBC's New York City station, WNBC-TV in 2009 and then rose to
the highest position within NBC News' national network. She was awarded the
AP's Best Spot News Award that year for her reporting of the collapse of a
crane in Manhattan's Upper East Side in March 2008. She also covered the death
of Cory Monteith as well as a motorbike attack on an SUV and the search for
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Tur was the NBC News and MSNBC's embedded reporter
during the 2016 Donald Trump presidential campaign.
